That Swordfish Spec TVR…. and Ms Berry.

TVR Tuscan Swordfish Spec used in the film Swordfish with Halle Berry and John TravoltaWatching TV here in the UK on Sunday evening, one of my ‘favourite yet forgotten’ films was showing – Swordfish. Favourite, yet forgotten because I loved it when it was launched, yet somehow, I’d forgotten about it, despite three very striking things. John Travolta and Hugh Jackman’s great performances, the TVR that became known as ‘Swordfish Spec’ and of course the stunning Halle Berry in lingerie. While I’ve yet to receive the call to photograph any of the people (Ms Berry would be particularly welcome), I did photograph a Swordfish Spec TVR Tuscan at the time they were just being launched. This was one of TVR’s press cars, shot for one of the Sunday broadsheet colour supplements to support a road test report and we had just a short ten minutes pause it track activity to grab a corner on the circuit with some painted kerb, a couple of small Speedlights and make a shot.

With the untimely death of TVR as a car producer, it was good to be reminded of how popular they where at that point. Where did they go wrong?
