New Writing Client – Time to Get Concise.

It’s always interesting when a new client comes on board and just recently, thanks to a contact from Chris Garrett, we’ve started a three month period of online writing and photography for Car Rentals, a prominent UK based website delivering holiday car rental deals. Their blog content had been running for some time and while it was perfectly OK, the writing was non-specialist and a little generic. Chris suggested I get involved and provide content of a more specialist driving / motoring nature.

I’ve written in the past about how there are many new opportunities for using new technologies to tell stories, not just through traditional car magazines. However, modifying your writing style from 2500 words of editorial feature down to 500 or so for blog publication is interesting. In the same way that few people will watch a ten minute YouTube video, but will hang around for 90 seconds, blog writing requites the same concise editing. Indeed modern feature writing for clients can be anything from 2500 words of in depth feature through to a series 160 character Tweets.

It’s going to be an interesting experiment and hopefully we’ll get some statistics to see how the audience reacts. Take a moment to head over and read some of their blog content or get the RSS feed.
